| H.F. Lenz Company provided the multi-discipline engineering services
including the communications design for the Mellon Client Service Center
located in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This new 850,000 sq.ft.
operations center also houses a data processing facility. Relative to
the communications portion of the project, HFL designed the horizontal and
backbone communications cabling plant for voice, data, and video traffic.
These systems consist of UTP copper and optical fiber cables. The
design includes communications closets and redundant service entrances from
multiple service providers. HFL was also tasked with the design of
telecommunications links between the existing computer operations center and
the new building by way of a directional bore below downtown city streets.
The link consists of 2,000 pairs of UTP copper and redundant 1,500 strands
of a combination of single and multimode optical fiber. H.F. Lenz Company
received the 2001 Integrator Award
from
Consulting-Specifying Engineer Magazine
for its telecommunications and
engineering design services for this state-of-the-art facility |
