Fort Necessity National Historical Park
Farmington, PennsylvaniaH.F. Lenz Company provided Title I and Title
II services for a new 4,000 sq.ft. headquarters building and a new 9,700
sq.ft. Maintenance Building. Consultation during construction was
provided as needed. Sustainable design principles were employed in the
design of the site, utility infrastructure, and buildings. The
buildings utilize natural light and are situated to achieve the greatest
heating/cooling benefits possible with regard to solar orientation.
The location of the buildings in their wooded settings resulted in naturally
cooler temperatures. A natural ventilation system uses operating
windows and a natural stack effect to permit heat to escape while allowing a
natural flow of fresh air into the building.
